2 and 7!

Beckett was lights out tonight, the bats were there when we needed them, and I’m slowly sliding my hand away from the panic button. Not far, but at least I’ve stopped hovering over it. Hope is alive again in Red Sox Nation!

Although there were brighter stars tonight, I think Tek made all the difference. He knows how to work these guys, and they need to use him more. At least until Salty picks it up, if he ever can.

I’m not saying that pitching, and consequently catching, is their only problem, but without consistent pitching, not much else matters. Let’s start from there. A few more wins under their belt, and I think we’ll see this team gel into something beautiful.

That is all.

It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year!

It’s the Dog Days of August, my favorite time of the year. When else can you lounge by the pool all day, cook dinner on the grill, then sit back in the AC comfort of Man Town and flip back and forth between Sunday Night Baseball and Sunday Night Football? Red Sox/Yankees, no less.

The only thing that could make this day more complete would be if the Pats were on, but that’s coming soon enough. Their first preseason game is this Thursday night @ 7:30 on WBZ-TV 4, against the Super Bowl Champion, Colt Beatin' Saints.

God I love this country!

So Good, So Good, So Good!

Sounds are very powerful memory aids and can evoke images we’ve long forgotten. For me, there’s no sound sweeter than the crack of a bat on a ball. It conjures up memories from many stages of my life. From the incredible feeling of the wood vibrating in my hands as I had my first solid connect in Little League, to the excitement I feel when one of our hometown boys gets a game changing hit, it’s deeply ingrained in my mind as a precursor to happiness.

I was getting a little worried there when the bats were silent through the first 5 innings, but Petey and Youk eventually provided the soundtrack for tonight’s memories, and the Sox finished things off in fine style.

The season is off and running, the team has their first win under their belts, and there are 161 more games to go. Could life be any better?

Go Sox!

I Don't Like Being Negative...

so I won't even mention the Sox or the Patriots right now.

Addendum, 08/22/09 7:30 PM

Sox 14, Yankees 1. I'm feeling much better now.

Sox In, Yanks Out!

The Redsox clinched a playoff berth tonight and eliminated the Yankees from post season play with a 5-4 victory over the Indians. Pop them corks!
